Project title: How the BBC is irrelevant to teens

The idea:
My story idea is that the BBC is becoming irrelevant to teenagers because teenagers prefer to use social media all the time which then developed more into the story it is

The research you undertook: 3 comparative examples explained via the BBC Web site including profiling the target audience for all three examples.

Target Audience
My target audience is teenagers, it is aimed at them because the BBC gives you up-to-date information and tells you about the world in general.

Journalism story development:
the short video was planned as a small documentary which can be seen on YouTube.
the headline was made as today teenagers don't use the BBC anymore
my opening statement how the BBC is getting irrelevant more today to teenagers
structure of the article is short paragraphs which can engage the reader to read more and when they looks at the supporting pictures then can agree or disagree

Is the BBC getting irrelevant to teens?
What is the BBC?
The British Broadcasting Corporation are a news reporting company which was founded in 18th October 1922 in London by John Reith who wanted to share what was going to happen in the world.

 The social media take over
Teens are using phones to use social media and they don’t need to know what happened in the world as they look at a certain idol they love as they are more important than the news and the weather as they use apps to get what they need instead of watching the news.

Teenagers are losing interest in the BBC news has decreased to 23% as social media has risen to 49% which show the BBC will have less viewers each day as most people use social media all the time and don’t pay attention to the BBC as much as they used to as phones can be used anywhere, and the news is not really needed by teenagers as they use Facebook and YouTube and other social media and don’t need to look at the BBC as much as they did in the past.
People have said that the BBC are as not as interesting as it was in the past as they only included what’s happening to the UK and some parts of the world instead of just certain countries they always focus on every time that the countries are being used as the information has been released and most teens don’t want to know about what’s happening in the world that doesn’t concern them and is getting irrelevant to Scottish viewers and the BBC are losing viewers from their radio stations.

The BBC is losing viewers between 16-34 dropped from 60% to 56% in the recent reports released by the government this shows people are slowly losing interest in the BBC as its getting more and more irrelevant everyday by viewers as by the survey data collected below:
Do you think the BBC is irrelevant
Teens 16-19

The annual plan also uncovered that more than 80% of children use YouTube for on-demand content, 50% use Netflix, and only 29% use iPlayer. Children aged 5-15 also on average spend more time each week online (15 hours and 18 minutes) than they do watching TV (14 hours). “This generation of children embody the digital transformation,” said the BBC which shows what the BBC are losing viewers to other companies which don’t make the news which shows that the elderly need to know what is going on in the news everyday than teens as the people who are above 20 will need to know the weather and what happened to the UK and parts of the world when its important as teenagers are using other services to find out what their friends are up to instead of looking what happened in the world. This are some picture people made to say their irrelevant to people

The next step for the BBC is to put the news on social media and make announcements which will get the teenagers attention so than they will take a bit of attention to the BBC news online than social media and get it into their recommended on YouTube so they might get interested again into the news so than the BBC will regain the teenagers attention they lost since social media had taken over their lives.

The final BBC design solution
i used the template in Photoshop and edited the text so then it was related to my story and all the images i had to put on there support my idea which are place holders for them and halfway though the place holder for the video is there so then when its on a website and clicked a video will play.

Video idea: Explain the narrative and representation of your video short to support your article.
my videos narrative was to get opinions on the BBC from two different age groups nd present it as a video so then when it was edited into one video people could see the two opinions and see which they agree with her.

Video script / SB: both need to be on your blog.

me: do you think the BBC is irrelevant to teenagers
Alex: you can see whats happening in the world, whats the weathers going to be like outside and you know whats happening in your local area
me:name
Sarah: my name is Sarah
me:do you think the BBC is irrelevant to teenagers
Sarah: i think the BBC is a bit irrelevant to teenagers especially the news because it is so long. teenagers are used to seeing headlines and reading about things really quickly and the news takes them so long to read and they get bored with it

Video pre-production paperwork: All need to be on your blog (Recce, Risk, Shot list, Crew, Equipment list etc)
equipment: amazon fire tablet
crew: myself, Sarah and Alex
shot list: in a living room
risk: other sound can get in the recording and people talking quietly.

Video production: What you did on camera (shot types, use of equipment)
on the camera i did close ups and used only a amazon fire tablet to record all of the footage that was used.

Video post-production: What you did on computer to make the final video. Show screen grabs.

Upload onto YouTube / insert video in WIX web page of the Photoshop skin: Show visual of final work in
the report.

My BBC project is on YouTube and can be seen by anyone.

Testing of BBC story in situ: Test against your target audience + feedback.
feedback
Jakub (17): this story is a bit engaging to me as the story represent to days teens like me as i don't read the news but the video was a bit boring as i didn't understand what was happening or know what was being said. Xiang (15): this BBC story was interesting to me because it shows how the BBC are losing interest on teen viewers like myself as i find the BBC very boring.

Evaluation: How successful was the outcome
The outcome was successful as the feedback i got was positive and was interesting as people reacted differently than i thought as they would be more negative as i thought that the bbc would be more irrelevant to my target audience as one doesn't watch it while the other one does a small bit.
But the outcome was also a small bit unsuccessful
